ABSTRACT
{ITA} La sindrome genitourinaria della menopausa [Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause, GSM] è una condizione frequente, cronica e spesso ingravescente. La terapia si basa sulla sulla somministrazione di preparazioni locali sia idratanti/ lubrificanti non ormonali, sia l’uso di preparazioni ormonali a basso dosaggio. Nell’ultimo decennio sono stati introdotti dispositivi basati sull’emissione di energia. Tra questi il laser Erbium-YAG, di seconda generazione, non ablativo, con tecnologia SMOOTH® [Vaginal Erbium Laser, VEL] presenta i migliori dati di efficacia e sicurezza. Il clinico può modulare l’approccio terapeutico in base alle caratteristiche, la sintomatologia e le preferenze della donna. L’associazione delle terapie mediche al laser VEL, con diversi protocolli terapeutici, si propone quale standard di trattamento integrato per la GSM.

{ENG} Genitourinary syndrome of Menopause [GSM] is a frequent, chronic, and often worsening condition. The therapy is based on the administration of local preparations both non-hormonal moisturizing / lubricants, and the use of low-dose hormonal preparations. In the last decade, devices based on energy emission have been introduced. Among these, the second generation, non-ablative Erbium-YAG laser with SMOOTH® technology [Vaginal Erbium Laser, VEL] presents the best efficacy and safety data. The clinician can modulate the therapeutic approach according to the characteristics, symptoms, and preferences of the woman. The association of medical therapies with the VEL , with different therapeutic protocols, is proposed as a standard, integrated treatment for GSM.
